Border Crossing: After clearing Uzbekistan customs, a short 5-minute shuttle transfer ($1 USD per person, paid locally) connects you to the Turkmenistan checkpoint. Meet your local guide and complete entry formalities (visa processing, customs declarations, and a rapid health check). The process typically takes 1 to 1.5 hours depending on border traffic. The Adventure Begins: Following lunch, we head into the heart of the Karakum Desert toward the world-famous Darvaza Gas Crater, internationally renowned as the "Gates of Hell." The Route: The drive to Darvaza takes approximately 5 hours. Please note that the road between Dashoguz and Darvaza is significantly damaged; however, our experienced drivers and robust 4WD vehicles ensure a safe and managed journey. Sunset Arrival & Dinner: With a few scenic stops along the way to stretch your legs and photograph camels roaming the dunes, we reach Darvaza just before sunset.
